High School Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry at St. John the Evangelist is a ministry FOR and FROM our young people.  The primary goals of our youth ministry are to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community, and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Here's What's Coming Up:

Prayer and Action: June 16-21, 2019

Pittsburg, KS | Current 9th-12th graders | $50

What is Prayer and Action? This week-long program is a mission trip for young people that takes place within the diocese.  Participants stay at the host parish in simple, dormitory-style accomodations living in community, prepare their own meals together, pray together, join the parish for daily Mass, and work on various projects (painting, minor repairs, cleaning, yard work) for local families that are in need. The week begins on Sunday evening and ends by noon on Friday. Transportation is provided by parish chaperones. We hope to see many new faces join us for Prayer and Action this summer!

What is Totus Tuus? Totus Tuus is a Catholic youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through catechesis, evangelization, Christian witness, and Eucharistic worship.  The goal of Totus Tuus is to help young people grow in the understanding of, and strengthen their faith in, Jesus Christ.

Totus Tuus seeks to foster openness to vocations in both the young poeple and missionaries. This is accomplished by placing special emphasis on the importance and necessity of prayer, Eucharistic devotion, and Marian devotion, in addition to catechetical instruction and formation in the Catholic faith.
